TIGHTENING ENVIRONMENTAL ZONES

From 1 January 2022, only lorries with at least emission class 6 will be allowed in all environmental zones in the Netherlands. This is in line with the agreements made in 2019 about a single national system for environmental zones.

Tightening up environmental zones

All information about environmental zones, the exemptions and exemptions can be found on this website.

THE HAGUE: EXPANSION ENVIRONMENTAL ZONE

The environmental zone of The Hague was expanded on 1 July 2021: the environmental zone runs from the Neherkade in the south to the Professor B.M. Teldersweg (S200) in the north. The center ring (S100) and the Telderstracé itself are not part of the environmental zone.

HAARLEM: INTRODUCTION ENVIRONMENTAL ZONE 1 JANUARY 2022

From January 1, 2022, an environmental zone will be introduced in Haarlem center and surrounding neighborhoods for trucks that run on diesel. Diesel trucks are then only allowed to drive in the environmental zone if they meet emission class 6. For example, the municipality wants to ensure cleaner air for residents of Haarlem, fewer emissions and a smaller negative effect on the climate. The wish is to tighten the environmental zone to a zero-emission zone for emission-free trucks and vans by 2025.

ZERO EMISSION ZONES

From 2025, municipalities will also have the option of establishing a zero-emission zone for commercial vehicles and trucks. This is also in line with national regulations, laid down in the City Logistics Implementation Agenda that was published in early 2021.

OVERVIEW OF ENVIRONMENTAL AND ZERO-EMISSION ZONES

To make clear which zones apply in which municipalities and when, TLN has made a handy overview. This shows in which municipalities environmental and zero-emission zones (will) apply and where more information can be found online about the zones mentioned.
