Administrative notification minimum wage Denmark

A number of new rules will take effect on 1 January 2021. Brexit has been agreed, the blind spot stickers will be introduced in France and Denmark is introducing a mandatory registration for the minimum wage.

From January 1, 2021, it is mandatory for foreign carriers to register drivers and vehicles in a new online portal (UTIK register). Cabotage activities in Denmark and the Danish leg of combined transport must be pre-registered in the system. This can be done up to the day of the transport itself. Every driver must be registered for every cabotage job. This is possible for a maximum of 7 days per operation. Compared to other countries, this is a difficult procedure, because drivers cannot be registered for a long time. After registration, a confirmation (PDF document) will be sent to the specified e-mail addresses. This document is for the driver. He must be able to submit this to the inspection authorities on request. Hours worked in Denmark must be paid according to the Danish minimum wage. These amounts are currently:

  • cabotage (€ 22.14 / 164.96 DKK)
  • combined transport (€ 22.14 / 164.96 DKK)
  • bus cabotage (€ 22 / 163.92 DKK)

Failure to register activities by a foreign carrier may result in a fine of DKK 10,000 (EUR 1,342). All checks and fines are put in place from the start of the implementation of the minimum wage law. There will be no grace period. (Text continues below the photo).

Transport in Nood doesn't like the way of registration. From an administrative point of view it is unworkable to make 'last minute' registrations or to change already made registrations. In addition to the way of registration, drivers are also asked for 'sensitive' extra personal data. Think of passport numbers, telephone numbers and e-mail addresses. Unfortunately, this is how it is currently arranged. The expectation is that it will change in the future. In both Italy and Austria, the registration period was initially a maximum of 7 days. This has now been extended to 3 months.

Our solution:
Customers of Transport in Nood with a contract for the European minimum wage fall under our care. We can take care of these registrations. However, we do have to (temporarily) set up a separate procedure for this, because the registration is very specific in terms of time and because additional driver information is required.
In order to guarantee a correct registration, we need to receive this registration at least 48 hours in advance from the customer via e-mail at minimumloon@transportinnood.nl with the subject 'Denmark'.
The following must be indicated in this e-mail:

  • Company name, VAT number and contact person (name, e-mail and telephone number)
  • Start and end date of activity (max. 7 days)
  • Form of activity (cabotage/combined transport)
  • Driver's first and last name
  • Passport or ID number
  • E-mail address and telephone number of the driver (if not available, company data can also be used)
  • Registration number
Update French blind spot stickers

A total of 25,000 stickers including 6,000 magnets have been sold in four days. As a result, the blind spot stickers are temporarily sold out. Next week the presses will be switched on again and a new edition of stickers will be produced. Of course stickers can still be ordered and they will be shipped in the first week of January.
